Obviously I love concerts and I always have a good time no matter what, but I can’t deny that there are some things that I frequently see or experience at concerts that drive me crazy. Most of them have to do with people in the audience rather than the show itself. An annoying audience can distract from a good concert.
Continue readingSome of my Memorable Concerts
I started off by trying to rank my concert experiences but picking favorites feels like trying to pick a favorite child. There hasn’t been a concert where I didn’t have the time of my life so it was hard to put any of them in last place. Instead I’ll just tell you about the some that stand out to me and what made them memorable.
Continue readingHow To Prepare for a Concert
After 26 concerts, I’d say I have a bit of a routine down for how I prepare for a concert. Buying tickets is a key first step, which you can read about in my previous blog post. Picking an outfit is also one of the first steps. I am a big planner with just about everything I do in life, and I’m no different when it comes to concerts. This is how I prepare for a concert so maybe these steps will help you, too!
Continue readingMy Concert Bucket List
I’ve seen over 30 artists and bands (including opening acts) in concert, but there is always room in my heart for more! Here are 8 artists that are on my concert bucket list. (Also known as: reasons I really need COVID-19 to go away so concerts can be a thing again.)
Continue readingAll You Need to Know About General Admission
Going to a general admission concert, or being in the pit at a concert is a totally different experience than having a seat. General admission definitely has its pros and cons, and usually the cons outweigh the pros for me. If I have the option to get a ticket with a seat, I typically do that. Venues like the House of Blues and Paradise Rock Club in Boston are all general admission. There are floor sections and balcony sections, but there are no seats. Other venues usually have a designated general admission section right in front of the stage, called the pit. I have been in both circumstances, and while the views are great, you have to sacrifice other things to get them.
Continue readingWhen Sickness Strikes on a Concert Day
My life is largely spent counting down the days until my next concert, so it’d take a lot for something to happen that stops me from going. (Unless of course it gets canceled for some reason or another.) Nobody likes getting sick. When you’re sick, all you want to do is stay home and sleep. That wasn’t an option for me though when I got sick the day before I had two concert days in a row back in June 2018.
Continue readingMy Thoughts on Jonas Brothers: Chasing Happiness
During my downtime that comes with the on-campus semester being cut short, I watched the Jonas Brothers’ documentary Chasing Happiness. The documentary came out in 2019 and is available on Amazon Prime Video. I chose to watch this because the Jonas Brothers are on my list of people I want to see in concert one day (a complete list coming soon).
Continue readingConversation with a Concert Expert
This week I interviewed someone who I consider to be a concert expert. (Through email because social distancing!) I met Alicia when I was 13 because she was friends with my older sister. Over the years I’ve gotten closer to her and concerts are a big part of why. We have similar taste in music and have some of the same favorite performers. I’ve been to several concerts with Alicia, and there have also been times when we both attended the same concert but with different people. If I’m a 10 on the Concert Expert Scale, then Alicia is a 1,000. Any concert-related questions I have, I usually ask her. I know concerts are a big part of her life, so I wanted to get her input about her own experiences and concerts in general!

Continue readingThe Only Downside of Outdoor Concerts in Summer
My favorite concerts have always been outdoor concerts. I’ve had the best experiences at outdoor venues and I prefer them over indoor venues like TD Garden in Boston or the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. Some amphitheaters that I’ve been to are Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, NY, Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA, Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, CT, Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion in Boston, MA, and Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY. From my experience, it’s usually easier to get good seats for low prices at these kind of venues. I also just like the overall atmosphere of them better than indoor arenas. However, if you choose to attend a concert at an amphitheater, weather is something that can put a dent in your plans.
Continue readingThe Coronavirus and Concert Cancellations
For the first time in my life, I’m relieved that my next concert isn’t until the summer. Concerts are being canceled left and right all over the world because of the coronavirus. While I completely understand that this is for health and safety reasons, I know how heartbreaking it can be. I had tickets to see a Broadway show in New York City over spring break and I was devastated when I found out all Broadway performances were canceled for the next month.
